A rethink is needed if the construction sector is to make its contribution to achieving climate targets – especially when choosing building materials. In KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim, we offer a building material made from filter cake that is completely cement-free. It contributes to maximum recyclability and makes building more climate-friendly.
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim. Cement-free liquid clay.
Recyclable liquid clay
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim was developed by innovative ETH spin-off Oxara and is being further developed with KIBECO. As no cement is used at all, significant CO₂ emissions are saved. The reuse of filter cake that would otherwise end up in landfill is also particularly valuable. This ensures consistent implementation of the circular economy concept and the transformation of residual material into high-quality building material.
Benefits of KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim
- No energy has to be used to produce the aggregates
- 0% cement
- Reuse of filter cakes
- Ideally suited for building components without static properties and floors
- The processing is identical to that of conventional concretes

Application areas
Floorings
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim is suitable for floor coverings without static requirements. The surface is sealed with natural wax products, making it durable and water-resistant.
Non-load-bearing walls
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim offers a natural and aesthetic solution for partition walls without load-bearing properties. The liquid clay also ensures a pleasant indoor temperature.
Hybrid design
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim can be combined with wood in hybrid constructions. The combination combines the natural properties of both materials and enables sustainable and innovative interior design.
FAQ about KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about application, benefits and sustainability.
-
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim is a cement-free, stabilised liquid clay specially developed to reduce the environmental impact of construction. It offers a sustainable alternative to conventional concrete for non-load-bearing components and floors and makes a sensible addition to hybrid buildings.
-
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim is a liquid clay and, unlike concrete, consists of filter cake. In addition, the liquid clay is completely cement-free.
-
Unlike conventional concrete, KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim contains no cement, which significantly reduces CO₂ emissions. Clay is a natural and local building material produced as a waste product in the form of filter cakes and is reused in liquid clay instead of going into landfill. It is also vapour-permeable, which means it can absorb, store and slowly release moisture. Thanks to its high heat storage capacity, it contributes to the energy efficiency of buildings and ensures a pleasant indoor temperature in summer and winter. This makes it an excellent storage medium and an ideal complement to wood that does not have this feature. In addition, liquid clay offers good sound insulation properties and fire protection. It enables a wide range of aesthetic design options that emphasise the natural charm of the material.
-
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim contributes to reducing the carbon footprint as it is produced without cement. This significantly mitigates the environmental impact compared to conventional concrete. In addition, filter cake is reused, which would otherwise end up in landfill.
-
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim is based on environmentally friendly materials. It can be used for a broad range of building components, including non-load-bearing interior walls, screeds, terrazzo floors, furniture and hybrid components combined with wood. It should be protected from environmental influences such as rain and frost.
-
Hybrid construction is about combining different materials to make the most out of each component. Liquid clay fits perfectly with this concept as it is sustainable and circular, which contributes to the principles of hybrid construction. Liquid clay can be integrated into both traditional and modern construction methods. For example, it supplements steel or wood by improving heat retention and moisture management.
-
Liquid clay is ideal for applications in the living area. It requires a stable underlay, such as cork insulation or load spreader. The installation thickness should be at least 8 cm. In addition, liquid clay is compatible with underfloor heating. A particularly attractive option is to make a terrazzo floor that is robust and easy to maintain and creates a pleasant indoor temperature.
-
Oxacrete Nossim is a specially developed blend of mineral salts. This leads to liquefaction of the clay to ensure installation similar to conventional concrete. This is followed by strength development, which enables stripping after three to four days. The final strength is achieved by air drying in the same way as with conventional clay building materials
-
KIBECO Cleancrete Nossim is produced in the concrete plant like conventional structural concrete and delivered to the construction site with a mixer truck. The liquid clay can also be pumped, which enables flexible use in various construction projects. No additional training is required for construction company staff.
-
Oxara is an innovative start-up specialising in the development of sustainable building materials. In collaboration with KIBECO, Oxara has developed cement-free concretes such as KIBECO Cleancrete Oulesse and Nossim, which offer an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional concrete solutions and help reduce CO₂ emissions.
